Caminar sobre el agua es el undécimo disco de Avalanch. Se trata de un libro con 2 CDs y 1 DVD, conteniendo el concierto íntegro grabado en la Semana Negra de Gijón el pasado 12 de julio de 2008.

Como colofón a la exitosísima gira de Muerte y Vida, Avalanch decidió que era el momento de grabar por primera vez un concierto al completo, con sus más de dos horas de duración. El equipo de Blaster TV recogió a la perfección las espectaculares imágenes y el ambiente de un concierto especial, "en casa" y ante miles de personas.

Se trata sin duda del directo definitivo de Avalanch, tanto en CD como en DVD.

Con el reciente Muerte y Vida, la banda asturiana retornó a la majestuosidad de trabajos como El Ángel Caído o Los Poetas han Muerto, sin renunciar a las afiladas guitarras de El Hijo Pródigo. Un disco espectacular que enganchará a los fans del heavy metal más elaborado, y del cual se pueden descargar varias canciones en www.avalanch.net.

La preciosa ilustración de Luis Royo, que cierra una trilogía de portadas para Avalanch, provoca ya una sensación diferente. Basta escuchar los primeros compases de "Ángel de la muerte", el tema que abre el disco, para darnos cuenta de que probablemente estemos ante la obra cumbre de esta gran banda, o en palabras de Rafa Basa, "el Ángel Caído del siglo XXI".

Trallazos como “Muerto en vida” o “La prisión de marfil” (lo más power que ha hecho Avalanch en años) se alternan con himnos (“Caminar sobre el agua”, “Hoy te he vuelto a recordar”) y baladas marca de la casa como “Aprendiendo a perder”. Once canciones sin desperdicio, desarrolladas en más de 60 minutos de música, con la mejor producción heavy jamás realizada en España, labor de Alberto Rionda (compositor y guitarrista de la banda).

La actividad discográfica de Avalanch es constante: en 2006 editaron el DVD en directo Lágrimas negras, recogiendo la exitosa gira de su anterior trabajo de estudio, El Hijo Pródigo, tal vez su disco más arriesgado, que presentaron en más de 50 conciertos, incluyendo giras por Estados Unidos y Centroamérica. En 2005 publicaron su primer DVD, Cien Veces; el CD Mother Earth, y el recopilatorio Un Paso Más (grandes éxitos)... y todo esto sin abandonar la actividad en directo ni un solo momento.

Avalanch es una banda con una trayectoria musical impecable y sobre todo, coherente. Con ediciones de sus trabajos en numerosos países europeos y americanos, miles de fans en todo el mundo y una más que demostrada solvencia en directo, su música ha evolucionado a partir del heavy metal para trascender géneros y etiquetas, incorporando elementos del hard rock clásico, del rock duro más contemporáneo, e incluso del pop y la música folk, siempre dando una nueva vuelta de tuerca a su sonido con cada disco.

Con sus últimos álbumes, Avalanch ha consolidado su sonido más personal. BIOGRAFIA DE EPICA

Epica es un grupo holandés del estilo Gothic Metal. Su estilo particular mezcla la voz mezzo-soprano de Simone Simons acompañada con guitarras melódicas y contundentes, usando en ocasiones voces guturales death, coros y pasajes en latín.

La banda fue fundada en abril del 2002 por el ex-integrante de After Forever, Mark Jansen. En sus inicios la banda se llamó Sahara Dust y tenia como vocalista a la cantante noruega Helena Michaelsen que antes formo parte de Trail of Tears.

En octubre de 2002, Mark Jansen invito a Simone Simons con apenas 17 años de edad (y su pareja en ese momento), para ser la vocalista definitiva. En noviembre, la banda entro a grabar al estudio en la ciudad de Rotterdam (Donde After Forever grabo Prison of Desire), para grabar su primer demo Cry For The Moon, que seria lanzado el mes siguiente.

Este trabajo tenia el nombre de Illusive Consensus. Su primera presentación en vivo fue el dia 15 de diciembre, en Tilburg, Holanda. En enero de 2003 iniciaron las grabaciones en Alemania del album The Phantom Agony.

En marzo, para darle una nueva identidad (mas que nada por el cambio de vocalista) surgió la idea de cambiar el nombre a la banda a Epica.

Simone Simons: Epica es un lugar del universo donde podemos encontrar las respuestas más importantes sobre las preguntas de la vida. La mayoría de nuestras letras son parecidas al significado de Epica.

El nombre del grupo surgió ya que Kamelot acababa de grabar su álbum intitulado Epica. En palabras de la banda: "Adoramos el título, ahora nosotros adoramos escuchar a Kamelot. Y decidimos cambiar el nombre a Epica".

The Phantom Agony fue producido por de Sascha Paeth (productor de Rhapsody, Kamelot, Angra, entre otros) fue lanzado en junio de 2003, con una gran influencia de música árabe, como Seif al Din, y del Metal melódico. Optaron por combinar la voz soprano de Simone Simons y la voz demoníaca de Mark Jansen.

En la canción Run for a Fall que fue escrita por Mark Jansen, describe sobre su salida de After Forever.

Façade of Reality aborda los atentados de 11 de Septiembre, incluyendo declaraciones de Tony Blair; de esta manera Epica demuestra que tiene una consciencia humanista y social entre los integrantes, sobre todo Mark Jansen, compositor de siete canciones del álbum.

En octubre fue lanzado el single The Phantom Agony, que tras el título tuvo varias versiones, como Façade of Reality y la inédita Veniality. En enero 2004, llego el single Feint, después se realizo la versión en piano tras la reedición de Seif al Din salió la nueva que era Triumph of Defeat. Seguido de la canción salió el video clip de Feint. En mayo fue lanzado el single Cry for the Moon.

En septiembre de 2004, es lanzado el DVD We Will Take You With Us, incluyendo video clips, Making Off y presentaciones acústicas, en vivo y en estúdio. Las presentaciones continuaron en el 2004. las presentaciones europeas fueron en Inglaterra, Alemania, Turquia, España, Portugal y otros países.

En diciembre Mexico presencio el show de Epica. Al final del año la banda entro a los estudios para grabar su segundo album: Consign to Oblivion. Este trabajo aborda a la Cultura Maya, y fue lanzado en abril del 2005 y producido por el aleman Sascha Paeth y por el brasileño Philip Colodetti. En septiembre del mismo año fue lanzado el album The Score – An Epic Journey.

En este trabajo algunas canciones fueron grabadas, originalmente, para componer la banda sonora del filme holandés Joyride.

En octubre, Epica lanzo el single Quietus. Este trabajo tiene dos versiones, también contiene vídeo-clip, y canciones inéditas como Linger y Crystal Mountain.

En el 2006 Jeroen Simons abandona la banda. Se dice que su ida es por buscar otros rumbos, manteniendo la amistad con los integrantes del grupo. Sin embargo para el próximo disco Ariën van Weesenbeek tocará la batería para el grupo. Ariën van Weesenbeek es actualmente miembro de la banda alemana God Dethroned.
